Hello! My name is Joshua Callandret, and I am a writer and designer located in North Carolina. I currently serve as the Communications Director at Grace Church where I oversee internal and external communications systems and processes. I get to build systems, write, take photos, design graphics, promote events, and work with some amazing people who care deeply about loving God and loving people.

In previous years I worked as a project manager and instructional designer in the eLearning department at the Savannah College of Art and Design, taught high school English, built decks in Colorado, and prepared surgical implants for spinal fusions. My career journey has been non-linear and sometimes seemed nonsensical, but every day I find myself exactly where I need to be.

I am a voracious learner with a high tolerance for new information and ambiguity. My blog is where I share what I’m learning, as I’m learning it. I believe it’s good to learn in public.

My interests are wide and varied. I enjoy working with my hands, fixing things around the house, art criticism, media theory, theological discussion, great writing, and nerding out about the World Wide Web. I think a lot about aesthetics, ethics, systems, and the relationship between people and technology. I want to design a future that looks better than today.

I am happily married and have three kids. I love my family and Jesus. They are my motivation to do what I do.

If you want to know more, take some time to read my writing.
